How do you use the Dutton-Lainson 6147 WaveRunner Winch Strap?

Question:

I am trying to find a clear answer of how to use a winch strap to secure a WaveRunner. I just bought the Dutton Lainson 6147 strap. What is the purpose of the loop at the hook end of the strap? Does that go through the bow eye on the WaveRunner and loop back to the hook or does the hook itself clip onto the bow eye? If you put the hook on the bow eye it is not able to clip shut and the hook interferes with mating the bow against the rubber stop on the trailer. I have not seen a clear answer to this question yet.

The loop at the hook end of the Dutton-Lainson winch strap, # DL24291, is called a hand-saver loop, and is used with winch straps for safety and convenience. The loop makes it easier when pulling slack, and safer if feeding the strap to the winch drum.

If the hook on the Dutton-Lainson strap is too big for your bow eye, you could use something such as the BoatBuckle PWC Winch Strap with Hook and Soft Tie # IMF14216, which has a loop that is designed to be used with the hook around your WaveRunner's bow for a connection point. Though it looks like the hand-saver loop, the soft-loop is designed for a different application.

You can take a look at the review video on the BoatBuckle I've provided to get a better idea of how it works.
