How to Order a Ball Mount for 0 inches of Rise/Drop
Question:
Hello, I will be renting a U-Haul trailer with a coupler height of 18inch as measured from the bottom of the coupler and towing with a Class III receiver 5K weight rating that sits exactly 18inch from the top/inside of the receiver tube. My understanding is that equates to zero and zero rise, correct? Which ball mount+ball+pin combo pack might be best for me? Also, do both 1-7/8inch vs 2inch balls fit with most couplers or is that 1/8inch critical?

You are correct, you do need a zero rise/drop setup to tow your trailer level.
In order to get a ball mount that has effectively 0 inches of rise or drop you would need to get a Trailer Hitch Ball Mount, part # D-4, like the one you referenced that has a 2 inch drop, and then use a 2 Inch High Rise Ball, part # C40034. Otherwise none of our ball mounts are designed for an exact 0 rise/drop.
