Recommended Weight Distribution And Front Of Trailer Bike Rack For Jayco Swift SLX 184BH Trailer
Question:
Hi, I would like to buy a WDH for our JAYCO SWIFT SLX 184BH single axle trailer GVW 3500, dry hitch weight 305 and I found Strait-Line Weight Distribution w Sway Control - Trunnion Bar - 10,000 lbs GTW, 600 lbs TW Item # RP66072 on your website. Would it be good fit for what we have? Also, I would like to get a bike carrier as well cannot use bumper mounted. Can you suggest something in your stock that would fit in the front of our trailer? Thank you for any advise.

Based on the information you gave, the Reese Strait-Line Weight Distribution w Sway Control - Trunnion Bar - 10,000 lbs GTW, 600 lbs TW # RP66072 will be an excellent system for a total tongue weight between 200 and 600 lbs. The total tongue weight is your loaded trailer tongue weight along with any cargo weight behind the rear axle of your tow vehicle. This is my favorite weight distribution system because it constantly fights against sway with the dual cam system versus sliding with friction. You will need a hitch ball like # 19286 for 2-5/16 inch ball or # A-90 for a 2 inch hitch ball.
For your bike rack, I recommend you use the Stromberg Carlson Bike Bunk Trailer-Mounted Bike Rack Carrier for A-Frame Trailers - 2"-100 lbs # CC-275 to add the carrier to the tongue of your trailer and then use the Yakima LongHaul 4 Bike Rack - 2" Hitches - Silver # Y02476. This bike rack has room for 4 bikes and the arms can swing down when not in use. The rack has anti-sway cradles with ZipStrips and comes with integrated cable lock and a hitch lock to secure your bikes and the carrier. You will want to measure your trailer tongue to make sure that a weight distribution system and the bike bunk will both fit on your trailer frame as they will be very close if they both fit.
This combination will add more weight to your tongue that will need to be calculated into your weight distribution system. If you use this system, I recommend you bump up to the 800 lb TW Strait-Line # RP66083 that has a total tongue weight range of 400 to 800 lbs. The two hitch ball options given above will also work with this system.
