Recommended Wiring Assembly Kit for a 2012 BMW X3
Question:
I am about to install a Curt hitch on my 2012 BMW X3. I am getting the hitch for a bike rack, but I may have to use it for a trailer. What is the best wiring assembly for it that is idiot-proof to install?! Thx

It sounds like you are seeking something that will allow you to install wiring without having to splice or cut your 2012 BMW X3's current wiring. To avoid that, I recommend the ZCI Circuit Protected Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector and Installation Kit, # 119250KIT.
Though it will require a number of tools and may seem intimidating at first, the process is essentially a system of clamps. View the attached link of this wiring kit being installed on a BMW X5 to get a better idea of what is involved in wiring your X3, though keep in mind that the wires may not be exactly the same, so we recommend testing your tail light wires using the circuit tester before installing the clamps I mentioned earlier. I have also linked a review of this kit for you.
In order to prevent corrosion on the connections, it is recommended that you apply a small amount of grease to them, such as Dielectric Grease for Electrical Connectors, # 11755.
