Will Transmission Cooler Or Skid Plate Interfere With Installation Of Front Hitch on 2001 Tacoma

Question:

Hi... I have a Toyota Tacoma 2001 and I want to put on a front trailer hitch receiver. But I have a transmission cooler that is attached to the same bracket that the hitch might be attached to. It the cooler is attached where the skid plate attaches to the front frame. That is the bottom of the cooler and it goes up from there in front of the radiator. Will both or either of your hitch frames work with that in place? Or, if not, is there some solution you can suggest? Thanks for your advice.... Its a great service!

You can check the frame on your 2001 Tacoma as shown in the attached instructions to see where a front mount hitch # C31013 and # 65041 is installed. In the instructions it does state you have to remove the tow hooks and they will not be re-installed. The instructions do not mention a front skid plate. I called my contact at Draw-Tite and they said there are no complaints or concerns about the skid plate on the Tacoma. The transmission cooler lines would be the only thing that may interfere with the hitch installation.

Both of these trailer hitches have 2-inch receiver openings.
