Recommended Trailer Hitch for Bike Rack on 2004 Honda Civic Coupe
Question:
Im interested in installing a hitch for a bike rack on a 2004 Honda Civic Coupe. Am I likely to have a problem with the hitch or rack hitting the ground coming in and out of driveways?

For a trailer hitch on your 2004 Honda Civic Coupe, I recommend the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C11204. The hitch should not hang too low below your vehicle frame to cause issues with ground clearance.
This is a Class I trailer hitch with a tongue weight capacity of 200 pounds, although you will also want to check the vehicle's capacity as listed in the owner's manual. I have attached the installation details for you to check out.
When choosing a hitch-mount bike rack, you will just need to make sure that the rack is compatible with Class I trailer hitches. I recommend looking at the Swagman XC 2-Bike Rack Platform Style # S64650. This platform rack will carry up to 2 bikes at 35 pounds each and the arm can fold down for easy rear cargo access. The nice thing about this rack if you are concerned with ground clearance, is that it has a 4 inch rise on the shank, which will place the wheel hoops well above your trailer hitch receiver.
I have attached a video review of this rack along with a link that will take you to our available selection of hitch-mount bike racks that are compatible with Class I hitches.
