Brake Controller Installation Instructions and Wiring Needed for a 2005 Dodge Ram Pickup

How do I connect a brake controller in my 2005 Dodge Ram truck. The harness on the controller doesnt fit the plug-in on the truck. Will I need to get an adapter? Thanks!

When installing a brake controller on your 2005 Dodge Ram truck, you will need the brake controller wiring harness that you mentioned for Dodge trucks, item # 7894.
This harness is spliced to the like colored wires coming out of the back of the Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Electronic Brake Controller, item # 90885 that you mentioned. This brake controller normally does not have a connector on it unless it has been wired previously. If this is the case you will need to remove the connector and replace it with the correct connector mentioned above.
If your vehicle does not have the factory 7-Way trailer connector installed on it there are further steps to complete the installation on your vehicle. We have a detailed article explaining these steps for you to review, see link. This article details installation of a brake controller if your truck has the factory 4-Way installed or does not have any factory trailer wiring installed. We also have videos detailing these installations on Dodge trucks for you to review, see links.
