Recommended Flat Towing System For 2017 Chevy Spark With Manual Transmission

Question:

I spoke with Blue ox people and they said the bx4330 would not fit my spark with bx1725 baseplate because of the 15inch span. You had previously said it would. I want a tow bar that fits the 2017 that does not stay with tow vehicle camper pickup but stays with car or simply is left off both connections when camping

According to the 2017 Chevy Spark owners manual, only the manual transmission vehicles can be flat towed. Automatic transmission vehicles can only be transported with all four wheels off the ground on a trailer.

If you have the manual transmission, then I recommend the Roadmaster EZ4 Base Plate Kit - Removable Arms # RM-523185-4 if you don't have active air shutters. This installation should use the Loctite Threadlocker # LT37420.

For a tow bar that either stays with the vehicle or is removed completely, I recommend the Roadmaster StowMaster Tow Bar - Car Mount - 2" Ball - 6,000 lbs # RM-501. You will also want safety cables # RM-643 to go with this.

For your vehicle brake lights, I recommend the Heavy Duty Magnetic Tow Lights - 20' Wiring Harness with 4-Way Flat Trailer Connector # TL21RK. If you need an adapter from a 7-way, you can use # PK12716.

For a braking system, I recommend the Blue Ox Patriot Portable Braking System - Proportional # BLU37TR. This will easily install on the floor board of your vehicle and connect to your brake pedal. It is an easy installation that is also easy to remove and is transferable from vehicle to vehicle. For this system you will need the 12V outlet kit # RM-9332.

The last thing you will need is an adjustable ball mount for your connection from your motorhome to your tow bar to allow level towing. I've linked the page to your ball mount options depending on the drop you may need. I've attached an article to help.
