Recommended Trailer Hitch Receiver And Wiring For 1999 Lexus RX 300

Question:

Im getting ready to purchase a hitch and hopefully wiring from your company. My enclosed trailer has the round type plug and my other trailer has the flat plug. On my other newer vehicle, I have a round and a flat connector. Do you guys have something that will work for both on my vehicle? Thanks

For your Lexus RX 300, I recommend the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class III - 2 inch # C13429. This is a a square tube design with gloss black powder coat over a protective base coat for superior rust resistance and prevention. it is an easy to install, bolt on application.

For your vehicle wiring, I recommend starting with the Upgraded Circuit Protected ModuLite with 4 Pole Harness and Hardwire Kit - Includes Tester # 119147KIT. This will give you a 4-way flat connection. Then I recommend using that connection to install the Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller # ETBC7. This will give you a trailer connection with both the 7-Way RV and 4-Way Flat you mentioned. It comes with all the wiring, connectors, and circuit breakers to add a brake controller.

For your brake controller, I recommend the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 # 90195. This is a proportional brake controller that will give you a nice LCD screen that takes code deciphering out of the equation. It is easy to read, understand, and use. It has 3 levels of boost and is customizable to your driving preferences. It is also mobile if you want to disconnect it and use it in your other vehicle with a quick disconnect.

For a ball mount, I recommend the B&W Tow & Stow 3-Ball Mount - 2" Hitch - 5" Drop, 5-1/2" Rise - 10K - Black # BWTS10048B. This ball mount is adjustable for towing your trailers level as well as stowable when not in use. It has 3 hitch ball sizes to make sure you have the size you need. I recommend using a hitch lock like # e98882 to secure your investment.

This will give you a complete system to tow your trailers.
