Weight Distribution Recommendation for 2016 Lance 1685
Question:
Hello, Im interested in buying: Fastway e2 Weight Distribution w/ 2-Point Sway Control - Round - 10,000 lbs GTW, 1,000 lbs TW Item # FA94-00-1000 for a 2016 Lance 1685. Im pulling with a 2014 GMC Sierra 1500. My question is two fold. First, is this the right hitch for the trailer? Im fairly certain it is correct for tongue weight 400# to 1k# but wanted to double check. Second, I understand Lance requires a different parts to attach the bars to the trailer. I want to make sure I get the correct parts to attach to the Lance trailer. Thanks,

The best way to pick out a weight distribution system is to base it off of the loaded tongue weight of the setup when it is loaded and ready to tow. This figure also includes the weight of any cargo behind the rear axle of the tow vehicle. I attached a help article on determining tongue weight for you to check out as well. You will want the loaded tongue weight of your setup to fall right in the middle of the tongue weight range of the system you use.
I looked up the weight of the 2016 Lance 1685 trailer and it has a dry weight of 3,805 lbs. Which means when loaded it would have a tongue weight of between 380 and 600 lbs most likely. The Fastway Kit part # FA94-00-1000 has a tongue weight range of 400-1,000 lbs which in that regard would work well with your trailer.
Now I also looked up the front of your trailer and you would need a different frame bracket style than what comes with this kit since the nose of your trailer has propane tanks above the frame. You would have to use a bolt on bracket kit like the part # RP58305. Which means you would need to use a Reese or Pro Series brand kit like the part # RP67509 which has a tongue weight range of 400 to 800 lbs. Or if you need more tongue weight you would want the part # RP66022.
For a 2 inch ball you would want part # A-90 and for a 2-5/16 inch ball # 19286.
