How Much Clearance is Needed Behind 7-Way Trailer Connectors # PK11898 and # HM48470

Question:

I looked at all the info and QandA and didnt see anything about it. If its there, my apologies. I just bought a 2015 Expedition and it only has a 4 pin connector. My trailer has the 7 pin plug. There is virtually only one place to mount the socket, but the spare tire is awfully close to it. My question is when you mount the bracket, the socket and plug in the wiring harness, how far does it extend behind the bracket? If its much over 4inch Im afraid it will hit the spare tire. If not, can you recommend a socket and bracket that will work? Perhaps HM48470? It appears to be a direct wired socket and maybe shallower? Also can you tell me or tell me where I can get the dimensions of both the brackets for PK11898 and HM48470?

I have included some pictures showing how far the 7-Ways in # PK11898 and # HM48470 stick back behind the mounting brackets. On # PK11898 it is 3 inches. For # HM48470 it is 2-1/2 inches.

I also included a picture showing what is essentially the same bracket for both (the one for # HM48470 is a little different) and all of the measurements. The one with # HM48470 top part sticks back slightly further though, about 1 inch total instead of 3/4 inches. In either case you could flip the bracket around so that the horizontal part points backwards.
