Can 2015 GMC Acadia AWD Use Weight Distribution and will It Increase Towing Capacities
Question:
Looking at towing a 23foot travel trailer weighing 3900 lbs, and a dry hitch weight of 509 lbs. we have the factory towing package. My concern is the tongue weight being so close to the max weight of the hitch. Will a weight distribution hitch help give me a slightly higher tongue capacity? I have heard that it does and also that it doesnt. Your input would be great, thanks

What you need to do is check the hitch or owners manual on your vehicle. There will be towing capacities listed, and if you see a second set of towing capacities when using a weight distribution system that will tell you if you have the ability to A. use a WD system, and B. know if you have higher capacities when you use one.
The hitches we offer like the Draw Tite part # 75528 are rated for weight distribution. This hitch has a tongue weight capacity of 750 lbs when used with a weight distribution system.
The Strait Line system part # RP66083 would be a great system for use with that hitch. It has a tongue weight range of 400-800 lbs and features only sway control to fight sway before it starts.
