Towing a Trailer and Carrying a Mini Bike at the Same Time on a 2004 Chevy Suburban 1500
Question:
I have a 2004 suburban 1500 and I tow a tent trailer thats about 3,000 lbs when loaded. I also have a Coleman mini bike that weights 112 lbs I want to take with me. I want to install a motorcycle rack and haul the mini bike on the top of the dual hitch and hook the trailer to the Lower part. Is this safe to do? Can the hitch handle 112 lbs plus the rack?

The problem with using an adapter such as # MPG544 is that doing so will reduce the tongue weight capacity of the trailer hitch by 50 percent. But not to worry because I do have a solution for you. Take a look at multipurpose ball mount # D210.
The D210 is a ball mount with a receiver welded on the shank. Since it is a ball mount it does not reduce the tongue weight capacity of the hitch. The receiver portion is rated for 350 pounds tongue weight and the whole ball mount is rated for 750 pounds tongue weight. Based on the weight of the trailer and the mini bike you should be within the capacities of the D210.
For a carrier I recommend # e98873 because it is heavy duty yet light weight (about 58 pounds).
Anytime you have a hitch mounted item loaded and tow a trailer at the same time it can reduce the turning radius between the 2004 Suburban and the trailer.
Another option is to install a front hitch # 31302 and carry the minibike there. But keep in mind that this method can reduce visibility, block lights, and restrict air flow to the motor.
