Can Short Bed 2017 Chevy Silverado 3500 Use Stationary Hitch

Question:

I have a 2017 Silverado 3500 dually with the standard bed 6.5. Do I need to use a slider or is my bed considered a short bed?? I would like to stay away from the slider if possible but will use one if I need to.

Unless you install a Sidewinder in place of the pin box on your fifth wheel trailer or have a trailer that has a tapered nose designed for short bed truck clearance you will have to use a slider hitch.

Sidewinders are pin box specific so you will first need to know what pin box you have now in order to pick out the correct one.

There should be a sticker or a stamping on the OEM pin box of the trailer that will list the pin box number that is on the trailer.

Once you figure out which pin box you have you can check the FAQ I attached that has a chart that shows the correct Sidewinder to get based on which pin box you have.

Then for a stationary hitch to fit the factory rail kit of your 2017 Chevy Silverado 3500 the best option is the B and W Companion part # BWRVK3700 with the wedge # SWW-06.
