Can a Sidewinder Be Used with B&W Companion Hitch in 2013 Ford F-350 with Hitch Prep

Question:

I am looking at purchasing a Reese Sidewinder replacement pin. I recently added a auxilarry fuel tank and my slider hitch will not fit 2013 F350 SB with factory puck system. I have a BandW companion hitch also but I see it is not recommended for this hitch without some additional bolts. Just wondering if this would be a good idea or I look at other options? I have 4.5 between the fuel cell and the center of the first Puck I hope this makes sense Looking for advise. Thanks

Since you have the factory rail kit in your 2013 Ford F-350 you can use a Sidewinder with a Companion hitch like the part # BWRVK3300. Since this version of the Companion utilizes 4 attachment points it would work great with the Sidewinder. The only ones that can't be used with a Sidewinder are the ones that are designed to fit in a Turnover ball gooseneck hitch. The reason being they only attach to the truck with the center post.

So you would want the part # BWRVK3300 to fit your Ford hitch prep package and then would want to pick out the correct Sidewinder for your trailer. This hitch would also fit behind your fuel tank as well.

Sidewinders are pin box specific so you will first need to know what pin box you have now in order to pick out the correct one.

There should be a sticker or a stamping on the OEM pin box of the trailer that will list the pin box number that is on the trailer.

Once you figure out which pin box you have you can check the FAQ I attached that has a chart that shows the correct Sidewinder to get based on which pin box you have.

The wedge to use with the Companion hitch and the Sidewinder is the part # SWW-06.
