Equal-I-Zer Weight Distribution is Too Stiff; Can Lighter Bars be Used in the Same Head

Question:

I bought the 1200/12000 equalizer hitch and it is a little too stiff for my trailer GVRW 7700#, TW 800#. Could I use the slightly smaller sway arms in my 12k hitch head since the opening is only slightly bigger 1/8? This would save me from having to repurchase an entire hitch system.

The different size Equal-I-Zer systems have heads to match the bar sizes so the parts are not interchangeable. But not to worry, with some adjustment you can soften it up a little and not have to use a different system. You will need to lower the tension on the spring bars. To do this you can angle the head towards the trailer and/or mount the parts of the brackets that hold the spring bars one slot lower. This will lower the tension and soften up the ride. Try this first instead of going to a whole new system.
