Trailer Wiring Harness and How to Pick out Correct Ball Mount for 2015 Toyota Highlander
Question:
I have a Curt 13200 tow hitch receiver mounted on my 2015 Toyota Highlander LE, and I will be using it almost exclusively with a rented U-Haul 5x9foot utility trailer with ramp. I want to buy the wiring harness and hitch ball from you, but the plethora of hitch balls is making my head swim. Can you recommend the right hitch ball for this application, or should I get an adjustable? You can see a photo of the hitch receiver height at this link: All it says on the U-Haul site is ball must not exceed 25inch height, but I assume there is a preferred height? Thanks for your help. If you can recommend a specific product, Ill add it to my cart. -

For trailer wiring for your 2015 Toyota Highlander you would want the part # 118449 which is a confirmed fit.
I attached an FAQ that details how to pick out the correct ball mount. Picking out the correct ball mount will allow your trailer to sit as level as possible. This is not something that is vehicle specific. It depends on the hitch height and the height of the trailer coupler. Basically you will first measure the height from the ground to the top of the receiver opening on the hitch while on level ground. Next, you will measure the coupler height from the ground to the bottom of the trailer coupler when the trailer is on level ground.
Next, you will need to compute the difference. If the hitch height is greater than the coupler height the difference is the drop required. If the coupler height is greater the difference is the rise required. You will want to pick the ball mount with the rise/drop closest to the difference.
