Trailer Hitch for a 2014 Mercedes E350 Sedan with Sport Package

Question:

I have a 2014 Mercedes E350 sedan with the sport package. Which hitches work with that vehicle? Do you have any 2inch hitches that work with that vehicle? And do the hitches require cutting of the rear bumper cover/lower valance that runs between the exhaust outlets on the sport package?

We had another customer ask about a 2014 Mercedes E350 with the Sport package and determined that Curt trailer hitch # C11001 is a fit. There are no 2 inch trailer hitches that will fit though. There may be some trimming required because of the Sport package (if the rear fascia hangs lower on those than standard wagons).

If you want to use the hitch for an accessory such as a bike rack or cargo carrier then you have to make sure the accessory is rated for use with a Class I trailer hitch. Also, with a bike rack, you are limited to 2 bikes maximum on a Class I hitch.

Curt also says you have to use stabilization strap # 18050 when using this hitch for any non-trailer load (such as a bike rack or cargo carrier) per their warranty requirements. I have linked the Class I compatible 2-bike racks and cargo carriers for you.

Can you tow a 4x8 trailer with this set up? Also, how do you connect the brake lights for the trailer?

It is going to all depend on the weight of the trailer. The hitch # C11404 has a 200 lb max tongue weight and a 2000 lb max trailer weight but you will need to check with the owners manual of your vehicle to make your vehicle can handle the weight of the trailer. As far as wiring goes for your vehicle, if you have a 2014 Mercedes E350 Wagon, you can use # 119250KIT to get the proper lighting functions to your trailer.

@JacobH Hi Jacob. Two questions for you on this, applicable to a 2014 E-250 Sport 4Matic Wagon. Do you have guidance as to selecting a ball mount? It looks like there are lots of mount options to raise the ball and lower the ball. Any way to know in advance what we want? (I'll be towing a single axel Kitty Hawk dinghy trailer, total loaded weight only 300 pounds). Also, when you say: "There may be some trimming required because of the Sport package (if the rear fascia hangs lower on those than standard wagons).", it is scary as it suggests that this hasn't actually been installed on this vehicle, since if it had been we would know if trimming is required. Any way to know in advance whether we need to do surgery on the vehicle? Thanks!

@AdamS Unfortunately the Curt Hitch # C11001 is only confirmed to fit a MB E-350 and there are no fits for your E-250. For your application you'll need to get something fabricated at a shop.
