Recommended Suspension Upgrade for 3 Inch Diameter Tandem Axles

Question:

I have two other questions before I order the suspension. - The axle spacing on this suspension is 33 inch. Is it enough to allow for 31 inch diameter 235/80R16 tire, or they will be to close from one another. - In fact my trailer weight is just a little less than 10,000 pounds loaded. Would it be better to buy the TSR10KT02 (10000 pounds suspension) or the TSR14KT01 (14000 pounds suspension ). Is it better to have more capacity or a softer ride?

Timbren Silent Ride Suspension for 3" Round Tandem Axle - 14,000 lbs - Rubber Springs, # TSR14KT01, you referenced I do recommend for your trailer. This is a complete tandem axle suspension kit, one kit will come with suspension for both sides of your trailer. I reached out to my contact at Timbren to ensure you didn't need anything else and they said if you already have your two axles, then this kit is all you need. The hardware to install on both sides is included.

I reached out to Timbren again and confirmed the measurements with them. Their engineer said that they have confirmed that the clearance with 31 diameter tires will not be an issue at all with the 33 inch centers for your axle. They said any larger tire may be an issue, but your tires/wheels will work with this suspension system. Regarding the trailer weight, I recommend still going with the Timbren Silent Ride Suspension for 3" Round Tandem Axle - 14,000 lbs - Rubber Springs, # TSR14KT01. This will allow your suspension to not operate at nearly full capacity and should give you a longer suspension life. The rebound spring acts as a shock absorber creating constant tension on the jounce spring, so whether loaded or empty, the trailer will travel safely with a soft ride.
