Im planning on buying the CE Smith post-style guide on for boat trailer and my question is the height. Is the height of the 40 inch guide, the height of the PVC pipe or the metal bar with the PVC pipe on top of it. Thank you

The 40 inches of the CE Smith Guide Ons part # CE27620 is the dimension of just the PVC pipes. The height of the metal brackets that the pipes slide on are 21 inches.
