Great news! The Roadmaster EZ5 # RM-521446-5 does indeed fit the 2016 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk V6 engine without Active Air Shutters. I have linked a video of this base plate kit being installed on a similar vehicle to yours for you to check out.
A great tow bar for this base plate kit is the Falcon All-Terrain Tow Bar # RM-522. This tow bar is capable of towing up to 6,000lbs and the hassle-free latches will let you easily release your car even on unlevel ground..
Some other items to consider when flat towing are:
a Breaking system like # SM99251
a Wiring Kit for your Jeep # RM-15247
a set of safety cables # RM-643
and possibly a High/low adapter, I have added a link of all our high/low adapters
There is some other important information on recreational towing in the vehicle's owners manual starting on page 615, that is a good idea for you to check out under recreational towing and starting and operating.

If your Cherokee has 4 wheel drive or the Activedrive 2 system, to maintain the vehicle's stable steering while being flat towed you will want to install the Mopar accessory kit 68321424AB, available from your Jeep dealer. This kit will prevent the Cherokee's steering from shaking while being flat towed.
