LED Trailer Lights Not Working with 2016 Tesla Model X with Tow Package
Question:
Tesla mechanic recommended this, but only as a guess. New tesla model X with tow package will not turn on any trailer lights. Although electronic brake controller recognizes when it a trailer is plugged in. Using 2016 tesla model X p90 Towing 2016 Aliner expedition with LED lights. Happy to order this adapter c57003 and try... Questions... 1-Can I easily return if it doesnt work? 2- Is there any concern with drawing too much power and cutting down on electric car range?

The issue your are experiencing is likely similar to the problems that require adapter # C57003. The LED lights do not draw enough power for the tow package to recognize that they are there. The brake magnets draw more power which is why the controller recognizes that a trailer is connected. The load resistors in the adapter will simulate increased load on the system allowing the LED trailer lights to work.
LED lights do not draw much power but the range on your 2016 Telsa Model X is going to be reduced no matter what since you will be towing a trailer which means the motor has to work harder.
I have linked the returns policy for you.

Do you have a version of this that also converts the 7-pin receptacle to 4-pin?
