Curt Weight Distribution System Recommendation for 900 lbs Tongue Weight and 8 inches Drop
Question:
I am planning to buy a weight distribution hitch. The tow vehicle is a 1999 GMC Sierra 1500, extended cab, RWD, with a Curt 13332 Class III hitch. My trailer is a 24 foot enclosed car hauler, with a total weight of 7000 pounds, tongue wt of about 900 pounds. Clearance from the pavement to the bottom of the frame is about 12, and to the top of the coupler is about 20. I am considering the Curt C17052 or the Curt C17302. Is there a difference between a round bar system and a trunion system? What is the difference between the Curt C17302 and the Curt C17342?

Trunnion bar systems are generally preferred because they offer greater ground clearance. If you are sure your tongue weight is going to be right at 900 lbs and not over 1,000 lbs loaded the part # 17302 that you referenced would be a great option. You should note that you need to include the weight of any cargo behind your rear axle as tongue weight as well.
You will need a drop shank like the part # C17123 since you are in need of 8 inches of drop and the shank that comes with the WD system does not have enough.
