Re-Wiring 7-Way RV Style Trailer Side Wiring Connector
Question:
I have a 7 way round blade style rv plug I forgot to disconnect from trailer and it pulled the wires out the back of the plug. Ive tried to re-attach but lights on trailer dont work properly. The cord has 6 wires colored white, red, green, black, brown and yellow. The plug has 6 terminals marked 1white, 2blue, 3green, 4black, 5red, 6brown and a center connector with no markings. How do I match these up for the trailer lights to work properly.

I can certainly help you re-wire your trailer-side 7-Way connector. Thanks for the photo of your connector, it helped verify the style connector and which wires you have!
The attached wiring diagram will help you in attaching the wires back to your connector. Based on your photo, the only wire you don't have is the Blue wire that would be for the Brake Controller Output/trailer brakes signal. The Green wire should carry the Tail and Running light circuit, Black is 12V power, Yellow is Reverse Lights, Brown is Right Turn and Stop, Red is Left Turn and Stop, and White is Ground. The colors listed on the plug are the existing wire colors you will want to connect in that location. It can be tricky to get the wires clamped tight enough at the connector to have a good connection for the light signals.
If this is how you've already re-wired the connector and it isn't working properly, you can use a 12V battery to test the terminals on the trailer connector. Apply power to each terminal to make sure the lights on that circuit are working properly. If the connector does not test properly, it will be easiest to replace the wiring connector on the trailer. You can replace just the connector with one like the Optronics 7-Way Connector # A7WCB or you can use a Trailer Plug with Junction Box # HS381-9000 to better protect the wiring connections and make it easier to replace wires when needed. If anything inside the connector or one of the pins on the connector was damaged when it was pulled, replacing the connector will be the best solution.
