Roof Rack and Kayak Carrier Recommendations for 2011 GMC Sierra Crew Cab Towing a 5th Wheel Trailer

Question:

I have a 2011 GMC crewcab that I want to carry 2 kayaks on top while towing a 31foot fifth wheel. I would rather not use a front hitch goalpost if I dont have to that I have seen on web pages. Ive seen it on the road on a Ford F-250 crew so Im sure it can be done just need the right info. Can you provide the right parts needed?

I can certainly help you out with some kayak carriers for your 2011 GMC Sierra. Since you have a crew cab model that means there is a decent amount of space available so you can position the kayaks so that they will not interfere with the 5th wheel trailer.

To start you will need a roof rack. I recommend the Rhino-Rack system # RR66SR which comes with everything you will need to add the roof rack to your truck. Plus the bars are aerodynamic and made of aluminum for corrosion resistance.

For a kayak carrier I recommend the Rhino-Rack J-Style carrier # S512. By itself it will hold one kayak. But if you add the expansion arm, # RRS512X, you can carry 2 kayaks side by side. I have linked a video review of the kayak carrier for you.
