Replacement Parts for Landing Gear on 2006 Keystone Montana 5th Wheel

Question:

I have a 2006 Montana 36foot 5th wheel trailer and it seems that the clutch in the landing gear motor is slipping and the trailer isnt raising up. Are the clutches known to wear out? It worked fine loading before our trip but during the trip it wouldnt raise the trailer. Any info would be greatly appreciated. By the way, youve got the best price on a replacement motor and I have purchased my 5th wheel hitch from you all. You guys are great. Thanks.

It sounds like you need a gearbox rebuild kit or a new gearbox for the landing gear on your 2006 Keystone Montana. The motor itself will not have a clutch mechanism. If the motor turns then chances are that the issue is downstream, in the gearbox or legs. You can try manually cranking the landing gear to see if they work properly under load. If not, then the gearbox is your most likely suspect.

On the linked page for landing gear replacement parts you can click on either Gearbox, to see complete replacement gear box assemblies for various brands of landing gear like # LC276602, or click on Repair Kit to see the lead leg and follow leg kits we offer for landing gear brands like Lippert, Atwood and Stromberg Carlson.

You landing gear should have some branding or part numbers stamped into the tubing, or perhaps a sticker indicating the manufacturer. You also can try contacting Keystone with your trailer's VIN in case they have record of the particular landing gear installed on it.
