You are correct that your Fifth Wheel to Gooseneck Trailer Hitch Adapter, item # AM3100, needs to be bolted to the fifth wheel king pin plate for safe proper installation.

There is no mention in the instructions about welding the adapter to the trailer, so you would need to inquire with the manufacturer about special instructions for welding the adapter to your trailer.

When towing with the adapter you will notice a decreased ride quality from towing with a fifth-wheel hitch. The springing and bouncing you are experiencing could be alleviated somewhat by proper trailer loading. Adjusting the pin weight, by moving items in the trailer forward or back, can help with ride quality.
