For a brake controller, you can't go wrong with the Tekonsha Primus, part # TK90160. The # 3020-P brake controller wiring adapter would allow you to plug the controller into the blue connector located atop the white plastic junction box on the firewall behind the emergency brake pedal.

To complete the installation you'll need the brake controller install kit, part # ETBC7. The kit contains everything needed to complete the installation, including wire, hardware, a 4-pole to 7-way adapter and zip ties.

To Install the 4-pole to 7-way adapter included in the kit at the rear bumper, plug the adapter to the existing 4-pole. There will be 4 wires remaining. The white wire grounds to the vehicle frame or chassis. The purple wire usually carries the reverse lamp circuit, if it's not needed you can bundle it up out of the way and secure it with electrical tape or zip ties. The blue and black wire will connect to the duplex cable included with the kit and be ran under the vehicle to the engine compartment and the passenger compartment. Connect the black wire in the duplex cable to the black wire on the adapter. This circuit will run to the positive battery terminal via the included 40 amp circuit breaker and will provide auxiliary power to the trailer if needed. The blue adapter wire connects to the white wire in the cable. It will run along the underside of the vehicle through the firewall into the passenger compartment. You'll cut the blue wire on the 3020-P wiring harness 6 inches rearward of the controller and connect the blue wire exiting the rear of the controller to the white wire that's been ran under the vehicle.
