Will Curt Hitch for Ford C-Max Affect Hands Free Liftgate Operation
Question:
2016 Ford C-Max Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver Class II - 1-1/4 Is this hitch compatable with the Ford C-Max hands free lift gate? The Draw Tite indicates that their unit is, but I like the heavier capacity Curt. The intent is to carry a Titus double bike rack. Thank you

It is possible that Curt trailer hitch # C12092 will block the sensor for the hands-free liftgate on the 2016 Ford C-Max. In some cases, it will just limit the coverage area of the sensor. Ford must angle that sensor differently amongst vehicles because some people seem to have trouble and others do not.
At worst you would just have to kick your foot on either side of the hitch instead of in the middle.
Curt requires the use of their stabilizer strap part # 18050 when using their hitch to carry a non-supported load like a bike rack. I attached a review video for you to check for the strap as well. Because of this you may rather have the EcoHitch Hidden Trailer Hitch Receiver # 306-X7200 that does not have the same requirement and has a 2" receiver opening.
