Handle Will Not Open Jaw On Reese 16K 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch RP30047

Our 16k reese 5th wheel handle will not open the jaws. We think the handle bar hook on the end has come out of a hole. There is a c clip at the end of the bar, but it is not in the hole. Can we fix this?

If you take the head off of the rest of the hitch, # RP30047, then you can turn it over to get a better view of the inner workings of the hitch. You should be able to place the end of the handle back into the hole at the end of the actuator mechanism.

But it could also be a broken spring. If you do see a broken spring in there or a spring is missing the replacement is # 30776. I have included a diagram that should help you.
