Is it OK to Mix Different Brands of Weight Distribution Head & Shank Components
Question:
Does the weight distribution hitch and shank have to be from the same manufacturer? I need a minimum of a 10inch rise and am having getting the two from the same dealer

All other things being equal, yes, it is better to use a weight distribution head assembly and shank from the same manufacturer. This allows you to know with certainty what the weight capacity of such a set-up actually is. If parts from different manufacturers are mixed there could potentially be fit issues due to things like different machining tolerances or to the thickness of a powder-coat finish. Staying with the same maker tends to avoid any such concerns.
That said, if the head and shank parts fit together properly and if they all share the required weight capacity for your set-up then you certainly will be fine using different brands together. Most shanks have 3/4-inch holes for the head unit and these are spaced at 1-1/4-inches on center. Spring bars and hangers should never be interchanged.
Curt shank # C17123 has the necessary rise - up to 11-1/2-inches with trunnion bars and 12-3/4-inches with round bars. This shank fits 2-inch hitches.
