Best Weight Distribution Shank for a 2018 Ram 2500
Question:
I currently am using a 2.5 to 2 inch adapter for my 2 inch shank. The problem is the amount of movement in the hitch with this setup. I need a 2.5 inch shank with a 14 inch . Top of shank to bottom of shank measurement. The bottom hole on the weight distribution bolt is one hole up from bottom hole which sets the center at hitch ball at about 17 3/4 inches from the ground. Airstream Hitch ball height 17.25 in manual. Trailer is very level. The shank you sell with the 6 inch is just not enough. My truck 2500 ram with factory class V is 25 inches from the ground to the top of the 2.5 inch receiver hole. Any ideas? I cant be the only one with this delima. I have been told by several local trailer dealers that the movement on my hitch is significant but they dont know what to do about it. With my old 96 ram 2500 I did not even use a shank but these new trucks are to high. This is a 2018 stock tradesman 4x4. The setup I have was done by Dodge dealer. I need to correct the movement and the u-clamp fix for this will not work because the chain hookup loops are to close to the receiver and there is no room for the clamp.

I have exactly what you need for your 2018 Ram 2500. For this, I recommend the Curt Weight Distribution Shank part # C17132 which has a 2-1/2" shank that offers up to an 9-1/4" drop. According to the measurements you provided, you will need a shank with a 7-3/4" drop which means the above shank will be perfect for you. It is also the most amount of drop we offer in a 2-1/2" weight distribution shank. The hole size and spacing follows the industry standard so it will work on most other weight distribution systems.
I have attached a review video for you as well.
