Actual Weight of Various Electric-Over-Hydraulic EOH Trailer Brake Actuators

Question:

I was wondering the weights of the following EOH actuators: Dexter, Titan BrakeRite, and Cargo Towing Sultions HydraStar. Also: will the actuator work without the breakaway system hookedup? Im aware that the breakaway is required by law but I need to know. Thank you.

All of the electric-over-hydraulic (EOH) trailer brake actuators we offer can be seen on the linked page. These are rated for either 1000 or 1200-lbs psi pressure for drum brakes or for 1500 or 1600-lbs pressure for disk brake applications.

Here are the approximate actual net weights of these various actuators without their packaging:

Titan # T4813100 - 11-lbs
Dexter # K71-651 - 11-lbs
CTS # HBA16 - 10-1/2-lbs
Titan # T4813102 - 13-lbs
Dexter # K71-650 - 11-lbs
CTS # HBA-10 - 10-1/2-lbs
CTS # CAR-HBA16-2 - 27-lbs
CTS # HBA-12 - 27-lbs

It is technically possible for an actuator to operate without being properly wired in with the trailer's breakaway system as is required by law. I cannot recommend doing this for any reason since this would be unsafe for you and other motorists and could result in fines. Operating a trailer without the required equipment would also expose you to legal liability in the event of a mishap.
