Trailer Hitch and Bike Rack Recommendation for a 2006 BMW X5
Question:
I have a 2006 BMW X5 and would like to purchase a trailer hitch along with a 4 bike rack. Which hitch would you recommend buying for ease of installation and value?

Expert Reply:
I recommend the Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch for the 2006 BMW X5, item # 75492, which has a 6,000 pound towing weight capacity and a 600 pound tongue weight capacity. The highest capacity hitch is always the way to go when possible, for safety and versatility for future needs.
At first look the Curt Trailer Hitch for the 2006 BMW X5, item # C13162, seems to be an easier installation but if you review the instructions for each, I believe, you will see that the Draw-Tite model is just as easy to install, if not easier.
Finally, some items you may need to complete your towing setup are listed below.
Wiring # 119250KIT
Drawbar # C45010
Hitch Ball # 19260 or # 19247
Hitch Lock Kit # e99039
