Does Underbody Appearance Have To Be Removed When Installing Trailer Hitch On 2015 Honda CR-V
Question:
Why would you remove the rear appearance panel on a 2015 Honda CR-V to install a hitch? If you leave it in place and cut carefully you save a bunch of time.

You are correct. As you can see by the attached installation video, our installer said you can leave the panel in place and trim it when you install the hitch like part # C13119. The installer uses a razor knife to accomplish this.
The manufacturers do instruct the installer to remove the appearance panel and use a rotary tool, but it can be trimmed in place without removing.
