How to Hardwire a Brake Controller to a 2012 Ford F-150

Hello and good morning1 Vehicle: 2012 Ford F-150, with factory 4 flat plug mounted on a bracket welded under the rear bumper, with no factory hitch, only aftermarket. Thanks to your great info, I was able to check behind the dash access panel, where I found NO plug for a brake controller. What do I need wiring / plug -wise to add a controller, which model controller, and end up with a flat 4 and a 7 rv plug at the back bumper? The 4 flat plugs into a rectangle shaped plug mounted above a frame cross member, with brown, green and yellow wires coming out of it, along with a separate white ground wire. Thanks,

If you are convinced you do not have the wiring for a brake controller in your 2012 Ford F-150 you can still easily hardwire the controller to your truck.

All you would need is the part # ETBC7 that comes with everything needed to convert your 4-way to a 7-way and install a brake controller. Check out the install video I attached for this product.

For a brake controller I would recommend the Prodigy P2 Brake Controller part # 90885. This is our best selling brake controller because of how well it works and how easy it is to setup. This is a proportional brake controller that senses the amount of braking the tow vehicle is applying and applies a proportionate amount to the trailer brakes.
