Recommended Weight Distribution/Sway Control System for 2010 Toyota Sienna

Question:

i own a 2010 Toyota Sienna CE without a tow package. My family would like to get a camper trailer.. Something around 2300 lbs. I have reviewed your suspension enhancement products and have a few questions. 1 I get my vehicles Rust Checked annually. Are your products damaged by the rust check treatment? 2 will your suspension enhancement products allow me to better tow a camper trailer as described above? 3 if so, which product will you recommend? Thank you for your time.

For a camper trailer towed by a passenger van like your 2010 Toyota Sienna the best handling-enhancement item is usually going to be a weight distribution/sway control system, rather than a vehicle suspension enhancement kit. Weight distribution (WD) moves some of the trailer's tongue weight (TW) forward onto the Sienna's front axle; this restores steering and braking performance and reduces rear end squat. A system with built-in sway control will also help reduce the trailer's tendency to fight the tow vehicle when hit with winds and pressure from passing trucks.

We do offer vehicle suspension enhancement kits for your Sienna like air bags # AL60732 and rubber jounce springs # TTORSEN04, all of which can be seen on the linked page. These tend to help more with cargo loads inside the vehicle. We have not heard of any issues with rust preventative measures causing any problems with such kits.

WD systems are tuned to a trailer's actual fully-loaded tongue weight, to which one adds the weight of anything in the rear of the vehicle that sits behind the rear axle, such as a loaded cooler. With this total TW known you can choose a system that is suitably rated for your trailer. It is not possible to choose a system until you have chosen your trailer, loaded it with all cargo and supplies and measured its actual TW weight. We do offer a scale, part # e99044, to make this easier.

The two linked articles will give you great background on measuring TW and on WD systems. Once you select a camper, we can help you choose the right system for it.
