Question:
Will this hitch accommodate a 18foot RUNABOUT BOAT AND TRAILER?

Expert Reply:
Curt trailer hitch # C13065 is rated for 5,000 pounds gross trailer weight and 500 pounds tongue weight. When used with weight distribution it is rated for 7,500 pounds gross trailer weight and 750 pounds tongue weight. You would need to consult the vehicle owners manual for its capacities and whichever is lower, the hitch or the vehicle, is the capacity you need to go by.
Runabouts come in all shapes, sizes, materials but based on the several I looked at online none exceeded 5,000 pounds. That's not to say that one could be heavier though. There should be information on the boat's weights in its literature.
