What Brake Switch Wire Connects to Input Wire for Brake Controller Installation in 2012 Kia Sorento
Question:
What color wire is used coming out of brake switch for brake controller

Expert Reply:
Wire colors on vehicles are not standardized by function and sometimes auto makers will use a different color wire than usual in order to keep a production line running without interruption. So the best way to know which wire to connect to your brake controller's red signal input wire is to test. Often the brake light wire on your car is yellow.
The wire that connects to the red input wire on a controller like the Prodigy P2 # 90885 is the one at the brake light switch that shows current ONLY when the brake pedal is pressed. You will need a circuit tester like # PTW2993 to test the wires while you step on the brake to find the one that carries a signal ONLY when the pedal is pressed.
The controller black wire connects through a circuit breaker to the +12V post on the battery; the blue wire is the output to the trailer connector and the white wire is the ground that connects to the battery ground terminal.
