I have a B and W solution I can provide for you. I spoke with my contact at B and W and she said their hitches will fit the stepside models. She said that their were old and new body style Chevy trucks made in 2000 so you have two options. If you have an old body style truck you would want the part # BWGNRK1050. If you have the new body style you would want part # BWGNRK1059 instead.
Here is the easy way to tell if you have a new or old body style truck. If your taillights have two colors (red and white), then you have the old body style. If they have three colors (red, white, and amber), you have the new body style.
