To complete the installation of your new brake controller in your 08 Silverado that had a factory brake controller, you need to run the blue wire from the controller under the vehicle avoiding sharp items, moving parts, and areas that get hot. To run this wire through the firewall, look for a grommet that you can cut to allow you to push the wire through. You can pull the carpet back on the driver side to locate a suitable location to run the wire. We recommend you use a conduit or loom to protect the wire when you run it beneath the vehicle.
At the back of your Silverado 7-way plug you will need to peel the plastic sheath and locate the blue wire. Sever the wire about 4-6 inches from the back of the plug and connect the blue wire from the brake controller to the wire end going to the 7-way. Be sure to tape up the wires after connecting to keep dirt and moisture out.
