Parts Needed to Add Brakes 2,000 lb Trailer Axle with 5 on 4-1/2 inch Bolt Pattern
Question:
I have a 4foot wide camp trailer, weight is 1200 lbs. wet. It currently has a 62inch hub face, 2000 lb. axle with idler hubs. Axle has brake backing plates. I am running 15inch tires with 5 on 4.5 pattern rims. Why cant I use electric brakes set up for 2000 lb. axles?

Expert Reply:
For a 2,000 lb trailer axle we do have hub/drums with a 5 on 4-1/2 inch bolt pattern that will fit and work well and are compatible with 15 inch wheels like you have. For that you'd want the # AKHD-545-2-1K for the hub/drum that will fit on your axle and then for brake assemblies you'd want the # 23-48 for the right hand side and # 23-47 for the left hand side.
