Winch capacities vary depending on several factors, such as the type of bunks, winching distance and incline. For longer winching distances on carpeted bunks you will generally need a winch rated for the craft's full weight. If winching distances are short and if roller bunks like Dutton-Lainson # DL21741 are installed then a winch rated for 1/3 of the boat weight would be sufficient.

Generally it is always a good practice to have a winch rated for higher capacity than what you actually need. This makes winching easier and tends to increase the working life of the winch by operating it below its maximum. The linked article explains a lot of these considerations.

According to my research a 20-foot Century center console weighs 1860-lbs. Most Yamaha 150-horse outboards weigh around 450 to 490-lbs. By the time you add fuel tanks, batteries, etc you are likely to be at around 2500-lbs total.

I suggest you add roller bunks to your trailer and use a winch rated for more than what you actually need.
