Will Using Roller Bunks on a Boat Trailer Damage the Boat

Question:

I have a 1995 TX 17 Bass Tracker. Where I fish some of the ramps are very shallow and it is very difficult to launch my boat. I believe bunk rollers would solve my problem but I was told they would damage my boat. Can you provide me with some help on this problem? I was thinking of installing two set of the bunk rollers to cover the entire length of the original bunks. If they are installed in this manor do you feel the boat would be damaged in either the unloading, loading, or hauling process?

The only way the roller bunks like # DL21741 could cause damage is if they were improperly positioned, installed, or the boat exceeded the 3,000 pound capacity. They may leave some marks on the boat from the black rollers but other than that you should not experience damage.

You will want to use as many roller bunks as you have regular bunks now. Or to put it another way, anywhere the boat touches the trailer you should have rollers there, evenly on each side. So you would not use 2 on one side and only 1 on the other side.

Something else that might help you is a longer ball mount. A longer ball mount would allow you to back the trailer up further into the water making it easier to launch/load the boat. I have included a link to the super extra long ball mounts that we carry.
