Platform Bike Rack Recommendation for 2011 Honda Fit
Question:
We are looking for a bike rack for our 2011 Honda Fit. We like the platform type for 2 bikes on a rack fairly close to the ground. Which bike racks do you recommend? with a 1 1/4 hitch. Are there any other instructions necessary? We have a womens with a V shape bar and a mans bike with a cross bar. Will the Swagman racks work for a womens bike? Are there other companies you recommend? We are occasional biker and need a sturdy rack that will last for a number of years but not necessarily the highest end rack that two not that hand people can figure out.

The 2011 Honda Fit will use a Class I trailer hitch with a 1-1/4 inch receiver. I would certainly recommend the Swagman XC2 Wheel Mount Bike Rack, # S64650, which you referenced for your vehicle. A friend of mine has this rack on his Ford Focus and he is very happy with the ease of loading and the secure mounting system of this rack. I attached a review video and installation instructions for this rack for you to check out.
A step up from the Swagman would be Thule Doubletrack Pro XT Bike Carrier # TH92BJ. The Doubletrack folds up against the rear of the vehicle for storage once the bikes are removed, and locks to secure the rack to the hitch and the bikes to the rack are included.
Both racks have raised shanks that allow the bikes additional ground clearance.
Platform bike racks can carry women's bikes without adapters pretty easily. The bike racks mentioned above feature an arm that comes straight down to grab the frame of the bike.
