Recommended Brakes For Tandem Utility Trailer With 3,500 Lb Axles

Question:

I recently purchased a used Lawrimore 16foot duel axel trailer 3500 lb each axel and I am needing to replace the brakes. I am not exactly sure the size that I need. If you could assist in this matter? It is a 2009 model number 77x16wt. Thank You

Expert Reply:

When selecting new brakes for your trailer with 3,500 lb axles, one important thing to consider is the brake mounting flange.

Since most 3,500 lb axles have a 4-bolt mounting flange I recommend the Dexter Nev-R-Adjust Electric Brake Assembly, part # AKEBRK-35R-SA for the right hand and part # AKEBRK-35L-SA for the left hand. You can verify the mounting flange by measuring the distance between the holes on your existing flange. For a 4-bolt you should measure 2-7/8 inches center-to-center.
