I have RV with two 12 Volt Batteries wired in parallel, one gets very hot, could this be because battery fried?

The smoking battery suggests that maybe you hooked up the battery backwards.

Many people assume that red is positive and black is negative. RVs are wired similar to houses thus they do not have the same wiring colors as a vehicle. Never just assume the red wire is positive and the black is negative.

It sounds like the battery charger you are using is overcharging the first battery and the second battery is not receiving any charge. This could be the result of using the old style trickle chargers that are not really designed to charge batteries…
