The Yakima replacement parts kit you referenced, their Replacement Hitch Bolt, Nut & Clip for BigHorn 4 Bike Carrier # Y8780022, includes parts required to secure any of a number of their different hitch-mount bike carriers to the 2-inch hitch receiver on a vehicle.

I am not sure why the bolt would be too short but regardless the best option if your rack does not have a weld nut inside the shank is going to be to use the Replacement bolt/anti-rattle device that you referenced #Y8780022.

Yes it's fine to have the hitch pin of your Yakima Holdup #Y02443 inserted facing the left side.

The Yakima Holdup Bike Racks regardless of generation all use the Hitch Bolt part #Y8890200. It's possible you stripped the nut so in which case you would just need the Replacement Nut Retainer and Nut part #Y90254.

You are right, I pulled both the part #Y8890185 and the #Y8780022 from our warehouse and the only difference is the additional flat washer that is in the #Y8890185.

The #Y8780022 is the correct part for your Yakima BigHorn, as long as it was made after 2004. My guess is that it's stripped because it should fit the same size receiver.
