Expert Reply:
For your 2006 Ford F-250 long bed there are universal 5th installation kits and custom installation kits. The difference, besides cost, is how long each takes to install and how much drilling is involved.
The less expensive universal kit, # RP30035, will fit your truck. But it will take the better part of the day to install and you will have to drill into the truck frame.
The custom kits, such as # RP50082-58, cost more but install in about half the time compared to the universal kits and there is no frame drilling required to install this kit. I have linked videos that show installations of each kit for you.
Please note that some custom kits, such as # C16448-204, still require drilling into the truck fame despite being a custom kit.
