Why Does T-One Wiring Harness 118520 Require a Power Wire
Question:
Why does this harness request that I run a wire to the battery? I will be using this to tow a boat trailer...can I skip this step? If not, why does the harness need live power? Thanks!

The 2007 through 2010 Mazda CX-9 models require that the # 118520 wiring harness have a power lead wire installed, so you will definitely need to install this wire to equip your vehicle for towing and to ensure that the harness functions correctly.
The power lead wire prevents the trailer from pulling power directly from the vehicle tail light circuits, and protects the vehicle wiring system from overload. The tail light functions come from the taillight itself, but the power comes from the battery.
